Live Discipleship
After we come to know Jesus, we follow Him by reading His Word and applying it to our lives through the power of the Holy Spirit. His Spirit transforms our lives so that others can encounter Jesus through us and experience life-changing transformation as well.
Jesus gave us a clear mission in Matthew 28:18-20:
"Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'”
As a church, we want to grow together in fulfilling this mission. This means:
- Living intentionally as disciples of Jesus.
- Making disciples who follow Jesus.
Living as a Disciple
Living as a disciple means allowing a mentor or fellow believer to encourage and support you in your faith. This person can pray for you and help you set personal spiritual goals.
During your meetings with your mentor, you can discuss practical steps to take in your faith journey. The four points of our vision – Seek God, Study the Bible, Live Discipleship, and Preach the Gospel – can serve as helpful guidelines.
Examples of personal goals:
- Reading one chapter of the Bible every day.
- Spending 15 minutes daily in prayer, seeking God.
- Inviting someone to church each week or praying for God to show you who you can disciple.
- Regularly praying for a specific area in your life where you want to see God’s transformation.
This process is not about rigidly following rules or feeling burdened but about finding support to help you grow in your faith. The goal is to see the fruit of the Spirit flourish in your life and become more like Jesus.
Making Disciples
Discipleship is not just about personal growth but also about walking alongside others in their faith journey. It’s about influencing others so they can come to know Jesus, develop a personal relationship with Him, and eventually disciple others as well.
True discipleship happens when those you help to follow Jesus also begin making disciples – and the process continues over multiple generations. When this happens, discipleship becomes a dynamic and impactful movement, just as Jesus intended it to be.
Our Invitation to You: Live discipleship, grow in your faith, and help others encounter Jesus – so that His love and truth can continue to spread through you to the world.
